Rivetta SP villa on the lake

Villa Rivetta lies in the picturesque lakeside resort of Santa Maria Rezzonico, on Lake Como´s western shore. Due to its stunning position at the tip of the headland, the pretty Villa Rivetta, sitting just above the water´s edge, offers glorious views to the north and south of the lake.

With its pink and yellow façade and shuttered windows, the Villa Rivetta sits perfectly within this lakeside village - complimented by the surrounding villas, houses and cottages all constructed in the same typical Italian style. Built over three levels, from every floor inside the house - and also from the various terraces and garden area outside - one can enjoy a panoramic view of the lake, the villages and towns across the water, and the stunning mountain scenery. The main floor alone has six full length windows which bathe the villa in sunlight. Built against a rockface, this charming medieval village has narrow, winding cobbled alleyways.

As a result, it is only possible to drive in the upper part of the village and there is no direct access to Villa Rivetta by car. From the car parking space at the top of the village, there is a walk of approx. 100 m down steps to the property. All round the property, the numerous natural stone terraces, the garden area and the covered outdoor patio (formed from a natural stone grotto - or 'crotto') offer wonderful possibilities to unwind by the lake and enjoy the relaxing ambience. Depending on the time of day, take your choice of terrace to find the sunniest spot. The covered patio ensures that, even during the cooler times of the year, it is possible to sit outside in the evenings on the table and chairs and barbeque on the large grill. (Grottos are familiar sights around Lake Como. They are natural cavities or caves which were formed during the prehistoric age when huge boulders came down off the mountains.) This location at the centre of the lake offers an almost limitless choice of excursions - whether it be a browse around the elegant shops in Como; a lazy lunch at a trattoria in Bellagio or a visit to one of the many cultural sights around the lake.

Close by are the famous villas - Ville Melzi, Carlotta and Balbianello and, for lovers of golf, the well-known golf course of Menaggio & Cadenabbia is only 20 minutes away. Just 7 km south is the town of Menaggio - a gateway for those travellers wishing to explore. The regular ferry service can take you to all the attractive towns and sights around the lake. There is a good bus service which also travels to Lugano - 30 kms away.
